News=Xiaomi Mi Band 2 with OLED display launched in India, priced at Rs 1,999: Specifications, features

Xiaomi has today launched the Mi Band 2 in India. The wearable brings in an OLED display, heart-rate sensor and will be going on sale, priced at Rs 1,999

Along with launching the Mi Air Purifier 2 in India, Xiaomi today also launched the much-awaited Mi Band 2. As the name suggests, the Mi Band 2 is the successor to the popular Mi Band wearable that Xiaomi launched in 2014. The new Mi Band 2 is priced at Rs 1,999, and it will be available starting September 27 via Mi.com and September 30 via Amazon India.  It is the third fitness brand from Xiaomi after the Mi Band and Mi Band 1s.

Xiaomi’s Mi Band 2 is a major upgrade over its predecessors when it comes to the overall design as well as features. One of the biggest changes is the OLED display, which helps do away with the need to constantly keep checking the app for data log. There is also an anodized physical button that lets you toggle between different modes. Another important feature of the Mi Band 2 is the optical heart-rate sensor placed at the back, which is a feature carried over from the Mi Band 1s. The Mi Band featured a battery life of about a month, and despite now featuring a display, the Mi Band 2 offers up to 20 days of battery backup.Xiaomi also says that wearable is tough enough to survive the outdoors courtesy of the IP67 certification that makes it resistant to water, sweat and dust resistance. The bands are now made up of hypoallergic silicone, which allows one to take the band for a swim or even a shower.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 features an ADI accelerometer, an upgraded pedometer algorithm, and it also supports Bluetooth 4.0 (second-gen) for faster and more stable connections with a smartphone. Xiaomi has used military-grade materials, which the company claims help make the sensor resistant to scratches and fingerprints. The Mi Band 2 comes with Customized alerts, which are designed to force you to get up from your desk job and move and take a walk after regular intervals
