NEWS=Google Pixel XL with 4GB RAM, Android Nougat 7.1 spotted on benchmarking site

The upcoming Google Pixel XL has been spotted on a benchmarking website yet again. It is set to feature 4GB of RAM, and run on Android Nougat 7.1.

We won’t be seeing Nexus smartphones this year, and instead Google is widely believed to be rebranding its smartphones to Pixel. Reports claim that Google could launch the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones on October 4. We already have a fair idea on what to expect from the upcoming smartphones as far as the design, specifications and features are concerned. The Pixel XL has yet again been spotted on a benchmarking website, which gives us a look at some of the smartphone’s key specifications and features.

The Pixel XL is expected to be the bigger and more premium variant of the two upcoming smartphones. As per the listing on GeekBench, the Pixel XL will feature 4GB of RAM which will be paired with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 chipset. There are however a few rumors which state that the Pixel smartphones could be powered by a Snapdragon 820 chipset. For the first time, the listing also mentions that the upcoming Pixel smartphones will be running on Android Nougat 7.1 out-of-the-box. The 7.1 iteration of Android is expected to bring a few improvements, bug fixes and Google Daydream support. Based on previous rumors, the Pixel XL is also expected to flaunt a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, 32GB and 128GB storage options, 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie camera, a 3,450mAh battery, and USB Type-C port.

The Google Pixel, on the other hand, is expected to feature a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM, 32GB storage, 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It is also expected to include a fingerprint scanner at the back, a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack.

On the design front, both the Pixel smartphones are expected to look the same and will only be differentiated on the basis of size, display resolution and battery. While HTC is widely expected to be manufacturing these upcoming smartphones, there won’t be any HTC logo anywhere.
Besides the Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, Google is also expected to unveil a bunch of other devices. These include a 4K-capable Chromecast, Google Home and a Daydream device reportedly called Daydream View. Though there were reports before about Google launching its own smartwatches running on Android Wear, it is unclear if those will be unveiled on October 4 as well.
